Due to increasingly serious drought conditions across Central Texas, Monarch Utilities I, LP, our wholesale water provider has requested the District declare Stage 2
Mandatory Watering Restrictions per the Drought Contingency Plan. The goal of these restrictions is to reduce total water demand by twenty percent (20%), which will help provide adequate water storage levels for public health, safety, and fire protection.
Please see Stage II: Mandatory Watering Restrictions details below.
The District supports continued water conservation practices, and voluntary reductions in water use in general. In addition, the District enforces the following mandatory restrictions on outdoor water use:
Use of automatic irrigation systems is limited between 12:01 AM to 4:00 AM, and 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM on the approved Watering Day Schedule. It is recommended that residents reduce the run times of each irrigation station during these times as well.
Use of hose-end sprinkler(s) is limited between 12:01 AM to 4:00 AM, and 7:00 PM to 11:59 PM on the approved Watering Day Schedule.
Irrigation of landscaped areas, such as gardens, trees and flowers by hand-held hose is limited between 12:01 AM to 4:00 AM, and 7:00 PM to 11:59 PM on the approved Watering Day Schedule.
Soaker Hoses for all landscaped areas, except lawns, are permitted from 12:01 AM to 10:00 AM, and 8:00 PM to 11:59 PM on the approved Watering Day Schedule.
Washing any motor vehicle, motorbike, boat, trailer, airplane or other vehicle with a bucket or hand-held hose with automatic shut-off nozzle is permitted only on designated watering days. Vehicle washing is permitted at any time on the immediate premises of a commercial car wash or commercial service station that uses recycled water. Further, such washing may be exempted from these regulations if the health, safety and welfare of the public are contingent upon frequent vehicle cleansing, such as garbage trucks and vehicles used to transport food and perishables.
Topping-off of pools is allowed on the approved Watering Day Schedule. However, outdoor water use, such as filling, refilling or adding of water to swimming pools, wading pools and Jacuzzi-type pools; and operation of any ornamental fountain or pond for aesthetic or scenic purposes except where necessary to support aquatic life or where such fountains or ponds are equipped with a re-circulation system is prohibited.
Washing or rinsing driveways, sidewalks, or streets is prohibited at all times.
The use of water for construction purposes from designated fire hydrants is permitted under special permit.
Additional Restrictions and Watering Schedule – Due to the extreme nature of Stage II, the District reserves the right to prescribe a monthly consumption limit for customers to ensure meeting required reduction.
